
Dr. Nicole McKelvey is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and board-certified Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist.
Dr. McKelvey brings warmth, authenticity, and adaptability to her patients navigating complex medical and psychological challenges. She is known for her genuine and direct communication style, helping patients and families feel understood while creating clear, actionable paths toward meaningful change. Her collaborative approach allows her to build strong therapeutic relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including those who may have previously felt misunderstood or dismissed within healthcare systems.
Dr. McKelvey earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. She previously has served as a Pediatric Psychologist and Training Director at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Her passion for training is also evident in her faculty position at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Throughout her career, she has specialized in integrated pediatric healthcare, working alongside multidisciplinary medical teams to support children and families managing chronic illness, pain, digestive disorders, diabetes, obesity, and other complex health conditions. Her experience within pediatric gastroenterology has allowed her to develop particular expertise in the gut-brain connection and the psychological factors that influence digestive health and quality of life.
Dr. McKelvey is passionate about helping patients and families navigate the often-complicated intersection of medical conditions, mental health, and healthcare systems. She is especially committed to identifying and addressing barriers to care, advocating for patients whose needs may be overlooked, and ensuring that treatment recommendations are individualized, culturally responsive, and realistic within the context of each family’s unique circumstances. Dr. McKelvey’s clinical superpower is her flexibility, which comes from years of working in integrated pediatric medical settings showing her that even the most carefully planned session can take an unexpected turn.
Outside of work, Dr. McKelvey enjoys making music and creating silly songs with her husband and son, spending time outdoors hiking and exploring nature, reading widely, and gathering with friends and family for board games and Dungeons & Dragons adventures.
