Ali Navidi, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Co-Founder and CEO of GI Psychology, where he has helped build a nationwide practice dedicated to expanding access to evidence-based behavioral care for gastrointestinal conditions and chronic pain.
For more than a decade, Dr. Navidi has worked with children, adolescents, and adults living with disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBIs), chronic pain, and complex medical conditions. He has particular expertise in gut-directed hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for GI (CBT for GI), with comprehensive training in clinical hypnosis through the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). A founding member and past president of the Northern Virginia Society of Clinical Hypnosis (NVSCH), he has also spent years training and mentoring clinicians in scientifically-proven behavioral approaches for GI conditions.
Dr. Navidi co-founded GI Psychology after seeing firsthand how difficult it was for patients to find behavioral health providers who understood the complexities of chronic GI conditions. Since then, his work has extended beyond patient care to expanding clinician training, educating medical professionals, and increasing awareness and access to effective gut-brain therapies.
As a speaker and educator, Dr. Navidi has shared his expertise in GI behavioral health, DGBIs, chronic pain, and Clinical Hypnosis with:
- Professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology and multiple state Academies of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Academic and medical institutions, including Georgetown University, UNC School of Medicine, George Mason University, and INOVA
- Clinicians and healthcare teams through training, mentorship, and professional education
Dr. Navidi is also an active contributor to public education around gut-brain health. His expertise in GI psychology and Clinical Hypnosis has been featured in The Washington Post and The Atlantic, and has appeared on more than 40 podcasts, including Gastro Girl Jacqueline Gaulin with and The PedsDocTalk Podcast with Dr. Mona Amin.
Across his work as a clinician, educator, and leader, Dr. Navidi remains focused on expanding access to evidence-based gut-brain care and advancing its understanding and use throughout the GI community.
