Have Questions? We’re Here to Help!

What Skills Will I Learn?

Parents will develop understanding of physiology of constipation and encopresis. The group will explore psychological factors that relate to constipation and encopresis. Through these skills, parents can expect to learn behavioral strategies to improve toileting.

What are the requirements to join this group?

All parents attending this group must be receiving services from Good Beginnings in order to enroll.

How much does the group cost and will my insurance reimburse me?

There is a one time cost of $280 for the four week skills group. This fee is non-refundable and you will not be able to reschedule/make up missed group meetings.

We recommend that you reach out to your insurance to explore your reimbursement rates and requirements, as we cannot predict or guarantee reimbursement. Your insurance will ask for a billing (or CPT) code, which is 95-96202 for the initial meeting and 95-96203 for the remaining 3 meetings. Of note, 95- denotes that the services are virtual. Some insurances require this information and others do not.

What are the steps to sign up for the group?

The next step is to schedule a free, 15 minute phone consultation to review the group rules, billing/insurance, and goals, as well as for you to ask any questions that you may have. During this meeting, payment will be collected and you will be registered for the group.

Following this meeting, you will receive an email confirmation with the group rules and a link for your group.

What are potential risks and benefits of a skills group?

Education and skills groups provide you with a safe environment to talk about your concerns. Participation in this group can help you develop skills to support their children in their encopresis management. However, benefits and certain outcomes are not guaranteed and there are some risks involved. The group process can be intensely personal, which can bring unpleasant memories or emotions to the surface. Additionally, with the nature of a group, there is no way to guarantee confidentiality and privacy.

Group treatment is effective because individuals feel safe to share private information in a confidential atmosphere. It is important that every member of the group agree to uphold the confidentiality of the group setting. Members agree to keep names and identities of other group members confidential. Facilitators will discuss a group or individuals in the group only with fellow professionals who are clearly concerned with the group, and then only for professional consultation.
