Questions about the IBD Skills Group

Who is a good fit for this group?
  • A person diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis (cannot be a family member of caregiver)
  • Is interested in coping resources and/or an online support group
  • Is 18 years old or older
  • Is proficient in speaking and writing in English
  • Is okay with treatment being out-of-network, with out-of-pocket costs that may be reimbursed by insurance
  • Has basic technology skills (logging into virtual meeting rooms, logging into an account to complete forms, managing sound and video)
When are the groups and when do they start?

The next group is scheduled to start October 24, 2025 and will be Fridays at 11:00am EST to 12:15pm EST (excluding the Friday after Thanksgiving).

Future group and times are always being added. If the current times do not work with your schedule, please fill out the form and we will be in contact with additional times!

Where do these groups meet?

These groups are held virtually and are accessible to patients nationwide. You can join from the comfort of your home, office, or wherever you are in the U.S. If you have any questions about participation, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to assist.

What is the cost of the group and can they bill insurance?

The group will be a one time cost of $600 and is required to register for the group. There are not currently payment plans offered.

You will receive a Superbill around the 5th of the following month to submit to insurance. The Superbill is the “Statement for Insurance Reimbursement” and has additional information for your insurance provider, in order for them to reimburse your claim. Specifically, it contains the diagnosis code and additional information about the practice (our Tax ID number).

What are next steps?

As soon as this form is submitted, you will receive an email with additional information. After reviewing this, you will determine if the group is still a good fit for you.

If you feel you are a good fit, you will schedule a free consultation with our team with the provided link. In this consult, you will discuss your symptoms, confirm that you are a good fit for the group, and learn what to expect from the group.

If you do not feel you are a good fit or are not ready to start the group, you will fill out a form letting us know why (location, age, cost, time of the group) so that we can continue to make adjustments to meet as many needs as possible.

What if I am not the right fit right now?

You will still complete the form and receive the email with the additional information. You will fill out this form letting us know why (location, age, cost, time of the group) so that we can be in touch in the future with alternative times.

“Participating in this IBD group was a wonderful experience that helped me feel truly understood—not just as a patient, but as a whole person navigating the ups and downs of IBD. The facilitator was incredibly validating and knew exactly how to help me connect the dots between my thoughts, stress, and symptoms. We worked on identifying cognitive distortions and learning how to respond more flexibly, especially when facing the uncertainty that comes with having a chronic illness like IBD. It was also comforting to know I’m not alone—that others out there really do get what this is like. The hypnosis sessions were unexpectedly powerful. Using the fist anchor helped me access a sense of calm during both flares and moments of visceral discomfort (like urgency and abdominal cramping/pain). Overall, I walked away with practical tools I can use on a day-to-day basis and a greater understanding of compassion toward myself and my body!”
